PDR (Product Design Review)

Review of documents to assess the conformity of the design of a Product.

Only LPO and BVN departments are involved in such projects (no survey at yard).

Two cases:

• Index 1: the product drawings are reviewed according to the product conception. If a product type is reviewed OK, the manufacturer owns the certificate for all other similar products to be manufactured in the future. It is called a Type approval (TYPEC)

• Index 2: drawings are reviewed individually for the product to be manufactured. If manufacturer wishes to re-manufacture the same product later, he will have to ask for another review (case by case review).

An equipment design review is made for a generic equipment and a manufacturer.
